Fe y Esperanza Contra el Cancer
Fe y Esperanza Contra el Cancer I.A.P., (Faith and Hope against Cancer) is a non profit organization of Alamos women who are committed to fighting cancer and helping community members who experience this disease.

A recent fundraising dinner, which was well attended by many members of Alamos' ex-pat community, earned the organization 20,000 pesos, and those donations, in addition to the money earned by the group throughout the year, has enabled them to assist seventeen cancer patients diagnosed with several types of cancer including breast, cervical, and brain tumors. In addition the group has provided assistance to two children and one adult diagnosed with leukemia.

Fe y Esperanza is one of sixty-six non-profit charities to receive certification by the Private Assistance Council, a department of the Sonoran state government. This qualifies them to participate in the "peso to peso" program that matches their private fundraising efforts with government funds. In order to learn more about professional fundraising, two members of Fe y Esperanza participated this summer in a two-day workshop in Hermosillo sponsored by the Private Assistance Council.

For more information or to donate contact La Fe y Esperanza office at 59 Calle Hidalgo, Barrio La Capilla, or Ana Acuna at 428-0974.
